Don't Spit on the Traffic Police!Added : November 17th, 2009 Views : 1634 This may be obvious to anyone who's ever seen cop beat down videos in the U.S., but you probably shouldn't spit on the police. That advice holds true in China. According to Netease, a Mr. Chen in Guangzhou parked his car on the sidewalk. The traffic police intervened, asking Chen to move his car. But Chen showed 'tude, refusing to pay the fine for illegal parking and spat on the officer. Unsurprisingly, he was taken away by the police and put into custody for 6 days. Today, he finally got out of "jail." As soon as the report was posted online, many netizens expressed their feelings towards the incident. Some netizens think the police did the right thing: "He (Mr. Chen) does not even have the basic manners; this kind of person should be punished. Besides, if he can insult the police, I can't imagine what he would do to the normal citizens (if anyone is in his way)." However, more people are very angry that the traffic police took Mr. Chen for 6-day custody. "F***. Spitting on the police deserves 6 days of custody and beating? Bullshit, what is this kind of society?" "If spitting on the police deserves 6 days of custody . . . Then if we fart towards the police, shouldn't we put into jail?" "Spitting on police = Attacking police??????"
The debate seems to go back to the question whether Chinese government has too much control over its citizens. Before we can really come to a conclusion about the debate, let us remember never to spit on the traffic police in China. (by Allie Shi) |
